June Meeting - Special Announcement
The Philadelphia Film Industry Meetup and Filmtech are proud to present a special event announcement for our June meeting.
I'm announcing the details of this meeting early to give everyone some time to prepare for a unique opportunity that has been worked out between our Meetup group and Filmtech.
For our June meeting, we're doing a contest with Filmtech that includes some great prizes. Here are the details (if you plan on entering, please be sure to read this information):
Our June meeting will take place at Filmtech for a special short film screening contest with prizes being given away for the best films. Any filmmakers that want to enter their films can bring them to the meeting on Thursday, June 11th at 7:30pm. All films entered must be on DVD to be screened for consideration (make sure you test your DVD in a DVD player, any DVDs that don't work are automatically disqualified). Films must be 10 minutes or less in length and cannot be pornographic in nature or a YouTube style film of you lip syncing to your favorite Madonna song.
There is a limit of 10 films that can be entered for consideration, this is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so the first 10 people that get through the door with films that meet the criteria will be entered. Each person attending the event will receive a ballot to vote on their 3 favorite films for the evening. With regards to voting - this is a Meetup meeting, please do not bring friends to vote for your film to stack the deck, this is for Meetup members only so the films will be voted on by your peers. The top 3 films all win prizes as listed below. After all the films are shown, we'll collect the ballots and announce the winners during the meeting.
PRIZES: The first place winner receives a free class at Filmtech of their choice; 2nd place receives a $200 tuition discount off one class and 3rd place receives a $100 tuition discount.
Filmtech, Philadelphia’s independent film school, is located in South Philadelphia and offers individual classes in all aspects of film and video production, from cinematography and videography to screenwriting, editing and film history. The Studio is available to rent for performances, rehearsals, screenings, auditions and casting calls. Visit www.filmtechschool.com for more information.
If you have any questions, please contact Sean McKnight through Meetup.
